What is Pilates?

Pilates is so much more than just a popular form of exercise! Pilates (originally called Contrology by it’s creator, Joseph Pilates) goes beyond exercise. Pilates teaches one’s body how to move in a new and functional way. Creating new muscle firing patterns, pilates teaches the body how to move as a functional whole, by initiating from the deepest core support. It puts the body back in balance, and eliminates old muscle imbalances that can lead to injury. It teaches you how to work with gravity as a partner, to create space in the body versus compression. In turn, it corrects defects in posture, creates strong lengthened muscles versus short tight muscles, and keeps the body running safe and effectively at it’s peak performance.

About the Owner

Lindsey Brannan has been teaching pilates since 2005.

She was trained and certified originally by Wendy Leblanc-Arbuckle and her (now retired) Core Connections Pilates Teacher Training Program. Lindsey is also certified by the Pilates Method Alliance.
